Rolling Stones Celebrated: An Epic Performance by Jumping Jack Flash at the Historic Mission San Juan Capistrano - Aug. 5, 2023

The Rolling Stones celebrated — Jumping Jack Flash returned to the iconic stage for Mission San Juan Capistrano’s “Music Under the Stars” Summer Concert Series in a performance that encapsulated everything we love about The Rolling Stones. From the moment we arrived at the historic venue, the air was electric with anticipation and nostalgia. This event is one of our absolute favorites, as the entire grounds buzz with hardcore fans who not only love the Rolling Stones but are equally devoted to Jumping Jack Flash. The atmosphere is a testament to the enduring appeal of rock and roll, and every year, we feel honored to be a part of this grand celebration.

Our adventure began with an early flight from Statesboro, GA, after an electrifying performance the night before at The Blue Room. Despite the hectic travel schedule, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to play at the Mission again when we got the offer. We hopped on our flight early the morning of the show and, thankfully, the journey back to Southern California went without a hitch.

Arriving at this beloved venue, we quickly set up our equipment, feeling the familiar mix of anticipation and excitement that comes with playing one of our most cherished gigs. Every detail of the experience—from the breathtaking stage to the palpable energy in the air—reminded us why this show stands out as a highlight of our tour.

At the Mission, ticket sales have become something of a phenomenon. Quickly selling out every time we play there. Almost every one of the 9.9 acres of the historic grounds lights up with enthusiastic fans as soon as the event begins. It’s inspiring to see how many attendees go the extra mile, creating themed centerpieces and personal decor to honor both the musical legends and Jumping Jack Flash. These creative expressions serve as a reminder that rock isn’t just about music—it’s a culture, a feeling, and an identity shared by everyone in attendance.

The show itself was nothing short of a dream come true. As soon as we launched into our routine, the stage transformed into a living, breathing tribute to one of the greatest bands in classic rock. Each note, each chord was infused with the spirit of the Rolling Stones, and for a brief, shining moment, it felt as though we were the real deal. The intimate setting of the Mission, combined with the undying energy of an audience that lives for this music, created an ambiance reminiscent of legendary concerts from decades past. The palpable connection between us on stage and the fans was a moving reminder that this isn’t merely a performance—it’s a shared journey through rock history.

After the encore, the response from our fans was overwhelming. Their excitement, from the hearty applause to the personal conversations following the show, filled us with deep gratitude and renewed passion for what we do. It was clear that every person at the Mission wasn’t just there to enjoy a tribute performance; they were there to be part of a living legacy. Their cheers and heartfelt feedback reaffirmed why the “Music Under the Stars” series is one of our most anticipated events each year we attend. This mutual respect and shared love for rock and roll inspire us to continue striving for excellence in every performance, as we honor the timeless influence of the Rolling Stones.

Additionally, we owe much of the lasting memory of the night to Scott Schmitt, our incredibly talented photographer and dear friend of the band. His stunning images seen above captured the spirit of the evening perfectly—from the vibrant energy on stage to the smiling, impassioned faces within the crowd. These photographs not only document the event but also highlight the profound connection between music, memory, and community.

In the end, our performance at Mission San Juan Capistrano was more than just an evening of live music—it was a full-blown celebration of The Rolling Stones’ enduring legacy. We cannot wait to return to this incredible venue, to once again experience the magic, and to continue sharing our passion for the music that shaped generations.

Thank you to every fan who came out to support us; your energy and love for the music inspire us to keep the spirit of the Rolling Stones—and our own tribute—alive.
